Going into deep experimental mode

The bava may be in and out over the next day or two as I upgrade my own WPMu version to the 2.7 trunk (pre-beta!) and integrate it with BuddyPress and bbPress (the last piece of which has consistently proven a major pain in the ass when it comes to cookies). Nonetheless, I am getting really close—you can see the beginnings of the integration between WPMu and BuddyPress here. I am still bothering with bbPress because it has been integrated with BuddyPress groups providing instant, integrated forums on the fly, which I like in theory a lot.

So, anyway, great pâté, but I got motor if I’m gonna make this funeral.

    Good luck with WPMU 2.7 trunk and bbPress trunk integration. I was working on this last week and didn’t get past simple shared user profiles via the database. Role mapping and cookie integration wasn’t working and feedback from bbPress forums confirmed this. Still, if anyone can crack it, I trust you will!

    Joss,

    I have everything thing working, but I am having a botch of time getting the cookies to login users to both. Damn it, it’s been two days now and I can’t get an answer. I kind of hate bbPress as much as I appreciate it, the integration with WPMu has been anything but easy no matter when I tried.

    Jim, your comment echo similar comments on the bbpress forum. The best answer I’ve seen is that it really is alpha software and should not be used in production. Fair enough.There have been some interesting comments from Sam on this recently. Don’t be fooled by the 1.0 tag. I’ve decided to drop it for six months. I don’t need the aggrevation!

    Hey Joss,

    I actually got the integration between WPMu and bbPress working finally.

    Seems like we need to add another line in the wp-config:

    define('COOKIEHASH', 'Your_cookie_hash_here' );

    I try and explain it here (though not very well),

    Sam Bauers give me the hint here:

    I’d be interested to hear if this works for you.

    Now all I need to do is get the forums working in the BuddyPress Groups and then I’ll write the whole thing up. Here’s to hoping.

    Nice work, Jim :-) I’ll definitely try it out but have gone into deep christmas mode so can’t guarantee I’ll get to it this year. Will let you know when I do. Thanks for your perseverance.
